How many teachers are participating in this workshop?
In this five days workshop (August 1-5) we have participants from New Delhi, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, Pune, Bhavnagar and many other cities. We are also training 30 participants in various aspects of earthquake engineering.
Don't you think that you should collaborate with foreign based institutes for advance training of teachers?
We are already into such kind of collaborations. Every year we send teachers for advance learning programmes to foreign countries and this time too eight teachers are going abroad for such courses.

Moreover, we also get advance research data from the Earthquake Engineering Institute in USA at low cost. Countries like Australia and New Zealand also provide us with technical data on earthquake management.
Shouldn't students also be encouraged to participate in such seminars?
Yes it's very essential for students to participate in such workshops. Keeping this in mind The National Information Centre of Earthquake Engineering at IIT-K will be organizing a workshop from August 29 to September 3. In this workshop students will be shown state-of-the-art equipment and testing facilities. Moreover, a series of video shows and a quiz will be organized so as to create awareness about earthquake engineering.
